Yes, I’ve finally decided to revive my blog. You could say “it’s about time” .

Since the last posts, I’ve a new job and a new focus in my professional life. As you can read on the about page or on LinkedIn, I have been a Consultant with Getronics since September 2008.

And now, I’ve taken the step and will restart blogging on the topics I’m interested in: the New World Of Work, new technology stuff, cool Apple gadgets etc.

For the sake of continuity, I will keep the older posts online, as they still get 200-250 hits a week.

The Belgian community has a very strong reputation internationally with many individuals making their mark in their fields of expertise. Lots of individuals, just like you, are hungry for more information about the many Microsoft products and technologies. In addition to the technical information, there is also very often the need to just socialize with other persons within the same domain of expertise. The many user groups that were started the last couple of years are doing a great job trying to address these needs with monthly meetings.

Nine of them, Belgian Dynamics Community, Biwug, IT-Talks, Pro-Exchange, Scug, SQLUG, Visug, Winsec, and XNAbug have decided to combine their efforts again to organize another joint-event just before summer starts. So if you are eager to learn, get answers to your questions and meet your peers, come and join us at the premises of SemCom in Keerbergen on Thursday, the 26th of June 2008.

You can start planning your ½ day of free training already! And for those of you who were there last year, no need to get up early this year, there is nothing going on @ Werchter J

Pro-Exchange will host two sessions, and co-host a third session together with Biwug. During our sessions we will cover OCS and Voice, Windows 2008, and SharePoint vs Exchange Public Folders: The Battle. Have a look at the agenda, and I’m sure you will find very useful sessions.

What has changed since the last version:

• the old MOF was focused on operations, while the new MOF 4.0 describes the entire IT life cycle (sounds a bit déjà-vu, see ITILv2 vs. ITILv3);
• the design of the content has been enhanced; if you need a best practice around one particular area then MOF 4.0 can help as well, with short (25-page) “service management functions” that can give you ideas on improving a particular function in 20 minutes.

But installing Windows Server Virtualization requires some more steps. John Howard, Senior Program Manager for WSV has posted a procedure to get the role installed.

The biggest news is that RC0 includes the first public release of of Windows Server Virtualization (a.k.a. Viridian).
